As well as the Jesus character, it is rumoured that Bruno and his boyfriend, Diesel, adopt an orphaned African baby boy called David and parade the child around fashion shows. It is thought the joke is aimed at Madonna, who adopted a Malawian baby called David Banda.

"On Nov 7, production on NBC's Medium was temporarily shut down when an extra kept interrupting a tense courtroom scene involving series star Patricia Arquette. Security stepped in and forcibly removed the troublemaker from the jury box, and it's only then that everyone's sixth sense kicked in: The unruly actor was actually Sacha Baron Cohen in disguise as his latest Borat-like creation, flamboyant fashion reporter Bruno. Sacha Baron Cohen went undercover as his alter ego Bruno on Sunday by crashing a rally in support of a ballot measure that would ban gay marriage in California.

It's unclear whether his Mossad retirement benefit card will be confiscated, but former spy and current political analyst Yossi Alpher is certainly feeling sheepish after being fooled by actor Sacha Baron Cohen, aka Borat.

Bruno is his third comic persona, a flamingly gay fashion reporter for Austrian TV, who gives new meaning to the term "air head." So this new project promises to stimulate the chattering-blogging classes: Is he really homophobic, or is he outing the homophobes? Post your comments below. But how on earth is Baron Cohen going to pull off another round of hit-and-run comedy? Of the potential marks most likely to see him coming, surely gay fashionistas top the list.

It soon built high-profile movies — like Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Babel” and the comedic actor Sacha Baron Cohen’s planned “Bruno” — around clients of Endeavor, which was quietly given part ownership in return for helping to find film projects and make deals.

When Fox let slip the opportunity to make Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen's follow-up to Borat, some thought the studio let one of the hottest stars in the firmament get away. Others said the deal, which cost more than $40 million, was too rich—especially since it's an open question whether Cohen can pull off another movie based on people not recognizing him (this time as a gay Austrian fashion maven).

The big sensation at this season's New York Fashion Week isn't a designer or a celebrity but a pair of mysterious socialites from Romania. Calling themselves Elisabeta and Nicolae Petrescu, they've been swanning about town in a vintage Rolls Royce, accompanied by a violinist and an aide who strews flower petals in their path.
